Module 1: Foundations, Trends and Current Challenges of Education

Specific competences of Module 1:

  • Understand the basic theoretical references that support the educational act.

  • Clearly distinguish the educational process from mere teaching.

  • To critically analyze current pedagogical trends.

  • Debate the use and / or abuse of ICT in education.

  • Weighing the arguments of the anti-pedagogical movement.

  • ​Theorize about the educational challenges of our century.

Module 2: Design and STEM Learning Environments

Unit 5. Introduction to the Field of STEM Education

Unit 7. ICT as Facilitators of STEM Education

  • Design classroom activities that contribute to the development of scientific, technological and citizenship skills of students.

  • Design learning environments and didactic strategies for integrated learning in STEM areas.

  • Identify collaboration networks and international learning communities for the development of projects in the field of STEM education.

  • Detect the main areas of research and innovation related to STEM education.

  • Promote the use of ICT for its use in teaching and research in STEM education.

  • Develop and promote didactic tools based on research and innovation that allow improving education in STEM subjects.

Module 3: Content and Language Integrated Learning in Multilingual Teaching

  • Plan and evaluate the teaching and learning process through additional languages in monolingual or multilingual contexts.

  • Know the characteristics of the CLIL approach and think about its application in bilingual educational contexts.

  • Identify the main areas of research and innovation related to the teaching of foreign languages.

  • Know teaching methods and strategies based on communication through additional languages.

  • Promote the use of Information Technologies for use in Teaching & Research in the area of bilingual education.

  • Analyze and interpret specific academic texts in the area to apply them in educational or research projects.

  • Know and use oral and written communication strategies in a foreign language.

  • Design didactic proposals using the CLIL approach.

  • Plan and evaluate the teaching and learning process promoting educational processes that facilitate the acquisition of skills associated with Social and Artistic Sciences.

  • Know methods and didactic strategies to develop knowledge related to Social and Artistic Sciences.

  • Detect the main areas of research and innovation related to social and artistic sciences.

  • Potentiate the use of Information Technologies for their use in teaching and research in didactics of Social and artistic Sciences.

  • Know the values and resources that the Arts and Social Sciences offer for the transfer of knowledge and meaningful learning, attending to interdisciplinarity.

  • Knowing teaching methods and strategies based on Art and the production of images to promote key values and competencies in students.

  • Design didactic proposals related to historical and cultural heritage.

  • Encourage the use of museums of different nature as knowledge platforms linked to the field of Social and Artistic Sciences.

  • Analyze the impact of Technologies in today's society and, specifically, in education.

  • Understand the implications of digital competence for students and teachers.

  • Analyze the impact of the media and take them as an object of study to address the dimensions of media and information literacy.

  • Analyze innovative practices in relation to technology and address its implications in teaching practice.

  • Identify the different uses of ICT as mediating resources of educational processes and their implications in the framework of regulated education and non-formal education areas.

  • Select and evaluate ICT resources and audiovisual information for formal education and non-formal education areas.

  • Design multimedia materials and multi-modal productions and identify their possibilities as innovative teaching strategies in different training contexts.

  • Know the human learning processes in different formal and informal educational contexts.

  • Know the development and learning characteristics of students and their impact on educational processes.

  • Know the characteristics of learning contexts and their impact on the educational processes of learners.

  • Know and apply various research methods in education, including various approaches, data collection instruments and analysis of the information obtained.

  • Identify and plan educational situations that affect students with different abilities and different learning rhythms, establishing the optimal forms of evaluation of them.
